Check Howard County Court Calendar

Start with the paperwork you already hold. A citation, summons, notice, or court order carries the case number and hearing details you need, and the statewide case-information portal plus a call to the clerk will confirm what the paper says. The Howard County court calendar works on two levels, circuit and district, so a session that shows up every Thursday belongs to the court's schedule rather than to any one case. Read each Howard County court calendar entry for its case number, division, setting type, and any later resets, then verify the time and place with the clerk or the assigned court before you appear.

The Howard County Court Calendar

Howard County posts no single daily docket portal. Instead, the pieces live in different places. Circuit settings can show up as future events inside a Search ARCourts case view. Administrative plans lay out when each court generally sits and which judge is assigned. The hearing day itself brings its own checkpoint. The posted docket at the courthouse and courtroom instructions serve that role.

Each source does its own job. A session plan marks a court's routine. A notice or signed order sets a specific case. The event history reflects what court staff typed into the system. Trials, continuances, holidays, and later orders can all override the routine pattern. The newest case-specific direction always beats a saved search screen.

Howard County Court Calendar Sources

Climb a ladder of sources instead of trusting one date. Start with the newest court paper. Then search the case and review its future events. Look through later filings for resets, continuances, amended notices, or cancellations. District matters call for the district clerk, since statewide coverage stays incomplete.

For circuit detail, the Ninth West administrative plan is the working document. The judiciary also keeps a circuit administrative-plans index and a district administrative-plans index. Howard's 2019 district plan offers historical context. The current 36th District plan governs the recurring local schedule.

The plan describes how the courts routinely operate. It never replaces the date set in an individual Howard County case.

Howard County Court Calendar Travel Route

Howard County belongs to the four-county Ninth West Judicial Circuit. Little River, Pike, and Sevier counties round it out. Circuit judges rotate a travel route. It puts a judge in each county at least twice a month. The annual plan covers criminal arraignments, pretrials, jury and nonjury matters, divorce, probate, juvenile work, and Drug Court.

That travel explains two quirks. A judge's office can sit outside Nashville. Even then, the Howard County Circuit Clerk keeps the local file. And a generic division calendar cannot pinpoint a party's hearing without the case docket. When the date matters, confirm the assigned division and the newest order. Guessing a setting from a judge's route invites a wasted trip.

How to Find Your Court Date

Pull the case number from your latest citation, summons, pleading, or notice. No case number? Search by participant name instead. Screen each result for Howard County, the right court level, division, and judge. Search ARCourts may list a future-event date, time, event type, and location, but compare that against later filed notices before you rely on it.

  1. Read the latest citation, summons, notice, or signed court order and note its case number.
  2. Open Search ARCourts, search by case number or participant, and verify the correct court.
  3. Inspect future events and then scan newer docket entries for a reset, continuance, amended notice, or cancellation.
  4. For a circuit case, call Angie Lewis's office at 870-845-7500 extension 5 or visit 421 N. Main Street.
  5. For district criminal, traffic, civil, or small claims, call 870-845-7522 or visit 426 N. Main Street, Suite 7.
  6. Ask the assigned division or an attorney in the case about scheduling instructions, and follow the current posted docket on arrival.

Howard County Court Calendar Thursdays

The current 36th District plan sets criminal and traffic sessions in Nashville every Thursday except fifth Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. Civil and small-claims sessions generally land on the third Thursday at 9:30 a.m. The courtroom sits at 426 N. Main Street, Suite 7. Those blocks handle county, Nashville, Dierks, and Mineral Springs matters.

Calendar rule: The date printed on the citation or contained in the newest order controls over the general Thursday schedule.

Tollette warrants a separate venue check. The older 2019 plan grouped it with the other departments, but the current plan omits it as a contributing jurisdiction. Follow the court printed on the citation, and call the Howard district clerk before trusting the Nashville pattern.

Howard County Court Calendar Division Suffix

The Ninth West plan tags a final 1 or 2 onto a circuit case number. That digit shows whether Division 1 or Division 2 took the case. Copy the whole identifier exactly, punctuation and division marker included. There is no sample Howard number here, so an invented one could mislead.

Once you know the division, routing gets simpler. Division 1's office is listed at 870-898-7228; Division 2's is listed at 870-912-0877. The Circuit Clerk verifies the filed setting record. The assigned judge's office gives scheduling instructions. Neither office handles statewide portal tech support.

Reading a Court Setting

Read the whole setting line before you plan an appearance. One date can carry several types of work. The generic session time may also differ from a specific instruction. Match the date and time to the case number and court. Check the division, judge, setting type, and location too. If a field is blank, call rather than guess a courtroom or remote option.

DateThe scheduled day, checked against the newest notice or signed order.
TimeThe listed start or docket-call time, which must not be assumed from a general weekly plan.
CourtroomThe entered location; call the court if the case view leaves it blank.
JudgeThe assigned circuit division or District Court judge connected to the setting.
Setting TypeArraignment, pretrial, motion hearing, docket call, plea, trial, sentencing, civil hearing, review, or another entered event.

Howard County Court Calendar Setting Terms

A setting label tells you the purpose of that court event. It does not settle the outcome of the whole case. Read it alongside the case type and recent orders.

Docket call
The court reviews a group of cases for readiness, pleas, resets, or trial placement.
Pretrial
A criminal status or preparation setting before plea or trial.
Motion hearing
A time for argument or evidence on a request that has been filed.
Bench trial
A trial decided by the judge rather than a jury.
Review hearing
A later setting at which the court checks compliance or case status.
Continuance or reset
A move to another date, which may leave the old date in the event history.

Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations

A moved Howard County setting can leave several docket entries behind. The old future event stays up. Then a motion appears. Next comes a signed continuance order, and finally a new future event. Filing the request alone did not move anything. The judge must act. The newest signed order or notice is the record that counts. When both the old date and the new one sit on the docket, ask whether the first hearing was actually canceled.

The clerk records filings. Scheduling belongs to the judge and court staff. Search ARCourts makes no Howard-specific refresh promise. A recent order may not instantly tidy the event list. Howard County posts no page of its own. Weather closures, holiday changes, and remote-appearance instructions have no local home. Confirm rather than borrowing another county's practice.

Howard County Court Calendar Federal Divide

Search ARCourts and the local clerks handle Arkansas state cases only. A federal civil, criminal, or bankruptcy date lives in PACER, tied to the Western District of Arkansas court that holds the case. Federal CM/ECF is the filing system; PACER is the public retrieval channel. The two systems share no Howard County court calendar. The official PACER pricing information page spells out the charges for federal docket access.

That official page describes the separate federal access route. It will not find or confirm a Howard County Circuit Court or District Court setting.

Howard County Court Calendar Confirmation Offices

Two offices answer two different questions. The court administrator or coordinator supports judicial scheduling, while the clerk maintains the filed docket. The split matters when Search ARCourts shows a case. It matters even more when the hearing instructions look incomplete. Ask the clerk what was filed. Take the scheduling question to the assigned division's official contact. The Arkansas Judiciary's trial-court administrator directory names those administrative contacts.

The directory is a direct route to court administration. Still, check the docket's division and latest order before making contact.

What To Do If You Miss a Setting

Act promptly. Pull up the newest case events and court papers. Then call the correct clerk and an attorney in the matter. Ask what the docket shows now. It may be a failure-to-appear entry, a new date, an order, or some other immediate step. Never walk to the courthouse on a guess. Never assume a routine Thursday session will fix the missed date without direct instruction from the court.

Missed a setting? A missed criminal or traffic appearance can have warrant, bond, license, or added-cost consequences depending on the case and court action.

Call the court named on the notice at once, obtain current instructions, and seek advice from a licensed attorney about the missed Howard County setting.

Circuit Court? Start with the Howard County Circuit Clerk at 870-845-7500 extension 5, and use the division number shown on the case. For District Court, call 870-845-7522. Write down which office you reached, then follow the court's actual instructions.

Howard County Court Calendar Data Limits

The statewide caseload tools let you filter civil, criminal, domestic, juvenile, and probate statistics. They do not break Howard County out cleanly. Guessing local filing counts from court budgets would mislead anyone tracing a single Howard County court docket. What a calendar reader truly needs is the individual case and the court's current direction, not a countywide volume figure.

For published numbers, turn to the Arkansas Judiciary annual-report collection, which gathers statewide court statistics.

Those reports give system-wide context. For one hearing, the current Howard County court calendar still matters most. The newest case order matters just as much.

A name search can return too many records, or nothing useful at all. When that happens, the detailed Howard County case search process helps. It shows how to verify the court, case number, judge, and participant fields one at a time.
